Which type of Sand is Best for Which Project?
The type of sand and the quality of sand you use can make a big difference in the outcome of each project. There are many different grades of sand available, each with its own strength and purpose. Masonry sand, for example, is used for construction, while play sand works best in playgrounds. Likewise, horticultural sand is for gardens, allowing the solid to drain easily to eliminate the dangers of root rot.

Construction Sand on Job Sites
Construction sites need sand for several reasons. In fact, they often build sand yards to keep an ongoing sand supply for wheelbarrows that move to and from the job site. Sand is a key ingredient in concrete and mortar mixes, providing stability and strength to building materials. But it’s also used to even out slopes in the areas they’re building.
Sand can be used as bedding material for pipes, underground utilities, and foundations. It helps distribute weight evenly and provides the stability they need to build houses and tall buildings. Compacted sand is also a necessary fill material used to create a stable base for structures and roads. Used as a base layer for installing pavers, bricks, or stepping stones in walkways and patios, it helps keep paths and sidewalks level with an equally stable foundation for us to travel.
Erosion Control
Sand is used to flatten and level surfaces, giving landscapers a means to build structures on an incline or slope. Sandbags also provide a necessary barrier in areas prone to hurricanes, flooding or erosion.
